Each tier comes from six weighted factors — evidenced selectivity, merit versus paid selection, mentorship, inspectable output, reach and track record — applied by a two-reviewer editorial pass and re-reviewed at least every 90 days. Read how we tier.
Tiers describe likely admissions weight, not the quality of a program or the worth of the student who attends it. A C-tier summer course can still be the best fortnight of your year — it just probably is not the part of your application that changes a decision.
